Every year in the spring, our first grade students study community helpers. Their favorite part each year is the “wax museum” project. Students create presentations about their chosen community helper and dress up as that helper. As families tour the wax museum, students come to life and talk about how their helper impacts the community for the better. With the transition to F.A.C.E. (Foundation Academy Classrooms Everywhere), the wax museum project looked a little bit different this year. In their research, students made phone calls to their community helpers since they weren’t able to visit their workplaces. When it was time for the big presentation, students presented via Google Meet to their classmates. Most of the students dressed up for the full “wax museum” effect!
