Upper School Awards, 9th – 12th Grade

DSC_0886Monday morning, May 15th, we hosted our Upper School 9th – 12th Grade Awards Ceremony! This special event gave us the opportunity to honor students who have excelled in service, character, and academics. Our Director of College Placement, Tim Covey, led the ceremony and began it with these words: “Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, and in purity.” (1 Tim 4:12). These words speak to every student recognized.

Our ceremony started with honored guest Colonel Michael Ulekowski from the United States Military Academy-West Point. The Colonel shared the stage with FA senior Evan F who has recently been accepted into the prestigious military school. We are so proud of Evan and enjoyed celebrating this incredible accomplishment together as a school family.

interactWe then heard from a representative of the Rotary Club of Windermere who recognized Sarah S for her “intent on serving her community” through FA’s Interact Club. Alec C was the next student to be recognized–he won the SOAR (Students of Achievement and Renown) Award, sponsored by the West Orange Chamber of Commerce. This is an award “of merit, recognizing students who have shown initiative, good citizenship, commitment and personal growth in the classroom.” Congratulations to both Sarah and Alec!

Our artists took the stage next, recognized for their accomplishments at the Winter Park Sidewalk Art Festival and the ACSI Art Festival. Those honored included Macy G, Adriana J, Maddison M, Joshua Z, Dylan G, Samantha W, Delaney S, Cynthia H, and Emma M. Congratulations to our talented artists and the entire Visual Arts Department!

These students achieved the highest grade point averages in their academic studies, and we are so proud of them. Immediately following our Honor Roll awards, we recognized the FA Lamp of Learning awards. This distinction is given to one student per course offered this year. These young scholars consistently worked hard in class, always gave their best, and participated on a regular basis. Congratulations!
