Wisdom and Paths
Chapel at the Upper School began with a powerful time of worship led by our dynamic Praise and Worship Band! John Grosshans then opened our teaching time with our school’s theme verse for the year: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” (Proverbs 3:5-6)
Mr. Grosshans showed how the verse encourages three actions:
- Trust the Lord with all your heart.
- Don’t depend on your own understanding.
- Submit to His will in everything.
The fruit of these actions is the promise of God making your paths straight. And this is exemplified in the life of the apostle Paul in the New Testament. Paul did trust the Lord completely. After all, Paul is the same writer who penned these words in Colossians: “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters.” (3:23).
But Mr. Grosshans cautioned students against trying to do more, or do better, in order to be like Paul. “All you need to do is let Jesus love you,” Mr. Grosshans said. “He will lead you–just let Him do that.” In that way, we can experience the love of God as He indeed makes our paths straight.
Thank you to Mr. Grosshans, our Praise and Worship Band, and everyone who made this week’s Chapel a memorable one. We’re looking forward to next week!
