Veterans Day Chapel
With Veterans Day this Saturday, our Chapel at the Upper School was led by retired Naval Officer and FA Science Instructor Jim Campbell. Before Mr. Campbell began his teaching time, our Praise Band prepared our hearts and minds with a time of heartfelt worship together. We then watched a video about Veterans Day–its origins and how it is a day to honor all who have served in the US military.
Mr. Campbell spoke about his military service–which included time in the Middle East, the North Pole, and more–and about the perseverance needed to serve both in the military and in God’s family. The Bible speaks about the perseverance of believers in numerous places including:
- Romans 2:7 “To those who by persistence in doing good seek glory, honor and immortality, he will give eternal life.” (NIV)
- Romans 5:3 “Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance…” (NIV)
- Romans 12:12 “Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.” (NIV)
Through both his teaching and through the life he’s lived, Mr. Campbell taught our students about the importance of persevering and staying the course. We’re thankful to Mr. Campbell for sharing with our students today and for serving our country’s Navy for 26 years. We pray everyone gets the chance to thank our many veterans this upcoming Veterans Day and throughout the year!
