State of the Academy 2018

We gathered as a school family on Thursday night, January 11th for our annual State of the Academy! Approximately 600 people came out to celebrate where FA has been, where we are now, and where we’re headed as a school. Speakers included Pastor Tim Grosshans, Head of School Carol Grosshans, School President Dave Buckles, Director of Advancement Luanne Lumpkins, Director of Admissions Michelle Campbell, and FA alumnus Brett Reynolds. We also had the joy of seeing performances by the Upper School Choir, the FA Faculty Praise Band, and the 6th Grade Ukulele Crew.

When asked about our annual celebration of FA, School President Dave Buckles had this to share: “At the end of the night, I left the stage right after the staff and families had just finished dancing. Confetti still covered the ground, and I saw a parent–a single mom who moved her kids to our school from another Christian school in Orlando. FA is a 40-minute drive one-way for her. She had tears in her eyes as she reached up to hug me and make this statement: It’s worth it! For her, it’s worth it to drive 40 minutes in order to send her child to a school that promises to share Christ with every student. It really is worth it.”

We couldn’t agree more and thank all of our families for coming out to celebrate the unique and profound experience of being part of the Foundation Family. Please enjoy pictures of the night below!

*SOA Trivia! Did you know this was our first-ever major event to be live streamed? We also had three times the normal tech crew, 400% more lighting, and used over 3,000 feet of cabling!
