American Sign Language Field Trip

Our ASL classes had the opportunity to visit the Florida School for the Deaf and Blind in St. Augustine again this year on Tuesday, February 6th. The school was hosting an Open House so the Blind bands and the Deaf dance group all performed. The dance group did interactive dances, inviting some of our students up on stage with them!
Part of the trip included touring the campus and seeing the museum and history of the school. Our students also sat in and participated with the Blind kids–even playing a game called Goalball. The kids had a blast!
Before leaving, FA students spent some time with a group of elementary Deaf students. Our Lions chatted with the younger students and used the signs they’ve been learning all year. “I’m so proud that we got to make this trip again, and I think the students really enjoyed it!” said Mrs. David, our ASL Instructor. We love our ASL classes and are thankful for a teacher like Mrs. David who offers this memorable trip to our students!
