Spanish Learns About Cinco de Mayo
On Friday, May 3, the Spanish 3 students celebrated Cinco de Mayo. Also known as the Anniversary of the Battle of Puebla, Cinco de Mayo is observed to commemorate the Mexican Army’s victory in over the French Empire in this battle on May 5, 1862. Students watched a video explaining the history of this Mexican culture tradition, and sampled a typical Mexican dish. However, their favorite part was going outside to break the piñata.
Thank you, Mrs. Peabody, for sharing the cultural history of this holiday with students in a fun and memorable way!
