8th Grade Universal Studios Trip

We’re so excited to invite you to this year’s 8th-grade field trip to Universal Studios.

Friday, January 12, 2024
7:00 AM – 4:30 PM

It will be a fun-filled day of learning and experiencing physics during our educational tour for the first few hours of our arrival. After the tour, the chaperones will be allowed to explore both parks with their groups.

This is a popular field trip and the space is limited, so please submit the permission slip & payments before Friday, October 13, 2023. All forms and payments must be submitted online. The first 70 people {students & chaperones}, will be allowed to select the park for the tour. After that number, the remaining students/chaperones will be placed in the other park.

Universal Studios: Fast & Furious, Revenge of the Mummy, Hollywood Rip Ride Rocket, and more

Dress Code 

Each student must abide by the dress code to go on the field trip. Unfortunately, no refunds will be given if the student is denied admittance.

Females:
• Athletic shorts from the FAN shop – click here
• Friday spirit shirts – from Foundation Academy only
• Uniforms – jeans + polo or jeans + Friday shirt

Males:
• PE shorts
• Friday spirit shirts – from Foundation Academy only
• Uniforms – jeans + polo or jeans + Friday shirt

Cost

The cost below is only for admission and transportation from our Tilden Street campus to Universal Studios. Each student will need extra money for meals and souvenirs. NO SIBLINGS will be allowed to attend this field trip.

Annual Passholders:
Students: $35
Adult Chaperone: $25

Non-Passholders:
Students: $152
Adult Chaperone: $117

Schedule

For families who will be meeting us at the park, please meet us by the tower by 7:45 AM. The tower is located at the entrance to Islands of Adventure. 

*Our tour is scheduled to begin at 8:00 AM and lunch is usually set for 11:00 AM. After lunch, the students will be able to explore the park with their chaperones and assigned groups.

**We will be providing transportation for the students if they decide to ride the school bus.

Departure from Tilden Campus: 6:50 AM

Arrival at Universal Studios: 7:20 AM

Departure from Universal Studios: 4:00 PMArrival at Tilden Campus:  4:30 PM

Signouts

Authorized Pick-Up Persons: Only individuals listed on the student’s emergency contact form will be allowed to sign out and pick up students from the designated field trip location. Parents or guardians who wish to designate an alternate authorized pick-up person must provide written consent in advance.

Signout Location: A designated FA staff member will be stationed at the signout area. Authorized pick-up persons must locate this staff member, provide their identification, and sign the designated signout sheet to confirm that they have taken custody of the student.

Chaperones

Chaperones play a vital role in ensuring the safety, supervision, and overall success of our field trip to Universal Studios. Your responsibilities encompass not only the well-being of the students but also supporting the teachers and maintaining a positive and educational environment. 

Do you have an updated background check? If not, please contact our HR department on or before October 1, 2023, to submit your application & payment.

  1. Supervision: Chaperones are responsible for supervising a group of students throughout the field trip. This includes keeping track of their whereabouts, ensuring they stay together, and preventing any unsafe behavior.
  2. Attendance: Chaperones should help with taking attendance at the beginning of the trip and during any transition points. They should also communicate with teachers or organizers if a student is missing or unaccounted for.
  3. Safety: Chaperones need to prioritize student safety at all times. They should familiarize themselves with emergency procedures, gather necessary contact information for each student, and know how to respond in case of an emergency.
  4. Behavior Management: Chaperones should set and enforce appropriate behavior standards for the students. This includes addressing any disruptive behavior and maintaining a respectful and positive atmosphere throughout the trip.
  5. Support for Teachers: Chaperones should work closely with the teachers or trip organizers to ensure that the trip’s educational objectives are met. They should follow the lead of the teachers in terms of schedule, activities, and expectations.
  6. Health and Well-Being: Chaperones should be aware of any student health issues or allergies and be prepared to administer any necessary medications or provide assistance in case of medical incidents.
  7. Communication: Chaperones should have a way to communicate with each other, the teachers, and the school in case of any changes or emergencies.
  8. Logistics: Chaperones may be responsible for helping students with basic logistics such as restroom breaks, lunch, and transitions between different activities or locations.
  9. Flexible and Adaptable: Chaperones should be flexible and adaptable to changes in the itinerary or unexpected situations that may arise during the field trip.
  10. Positive Interaction: Chaperones should interact positively with students, encouraging their curiosity, engagement, and enthusiasm for the trip.
