Ivani McAleer is from Brasilia, Brazil and has a B.A in English from William Tyndale College and Post-Baccalaureate in Teacher Education from Eastern Michigan University. She enjoys serving in the Family Advocacy Ministry at my church. She also enjoys spending time with her family, especially in nature oriented settings, such as nature hikes, and loves reading – especially biographies, memoirs, and historical fiction. Her favorite bible verse is Psalm 139 as it powerfully reminds her of our worth.
“I have been blessed with many remarkable influences throughout my life, both in the professional and personal realms. However, my parents and a paternal aunt stand out as some of the key ones. Both my mom and dad were SVI (severely visually impaired) but with God’s grace and my aunt’s selfless and caring assistance, they were able to raise two daughters who understand the importance of empathy, hard work, and honesty.
My driving force in the classroom is summarized in this quote by Bernard of Clairvaux: “there are those who seek knowledge for the sake of knowledge, that is curiosity; there are those who seek knowledge to be known by others, that is vanity; there are those who seek knowledge in order to serve, that is love”. I love serving as an educator and pray that I can instill in my students the desire to seek God’s glory and His presence, not just as believers but also as disciples of Christ.”
