James Campbell was born in Cleveland, Ohio, but has lived in Florida for over 40 years. He is a graduate of the University of Florida with a B.S. in Chemistry/Chemical Engineering and completed his graduate studies in mathematics and analytical chemistry from the University of Central Florida and Hope College. He has been teaching at the university and high school level since 1973 and is a retired Naval Officer, having served in submarines, surface combatants, and mine countermeasures command. James teaches Honors Chemistry, AP Chemistry, Honors Physics, and AP Physics at our Tilden Campus. He is also a sponsor of FA’s National Honor Society. He enjoys trail running, basketball, rowing, and reading. Jame’s favorite Bible verse is Philippians 4: 6-7. His major influences are his wife of 40 years, a spiritual and moral hero, a military and leadership hero, and an intellectual and academic hero.

His goals are:

1. “To show students that their standing in Christ is paramount and that this life is only a short-term span during which they can positively or negatively influence others they come in contact with.”

2. “To encourage students to go way beyond what they think they are capable of, never decide at an early stage in their lives what their limitations are, and to make their brains hurt by the end of class because they have had to think “too much”. Also, do not want to just know that something works physically, but why they work as they do, and how we might make improvements to those processes.”
