Laurlyn Smith is from Odessa, Texas. She earned her B.M. in Musical Theatre at the University of Mobile. Laurlyn teaches Choir and Drama at all three campuses. She also directs the Theatre Club. She enjoys storytelling and all the creative mediums to do this: performing arts, arts and crafts, creative writing, music, music composition. Laurlyn’s favorite Bible verse is Matthew 11:28. Her greatest influences are her parents for encouraging her to reach for the stars and to never say the word ‘impossible’ and many teachers that poured into her life.
“The best story in the world is the story of Jesus, His gospel. I am called to tell his story, and I love finding new, creative ways to do so. There are so many ways to present the gospel, to worship the Lord, and to use the gifts He has given us. It is my goal to help the students explore these things through the performing arts, lifting our talents and lives back up as an offering to Him.”
