The Foundation Academy baseball team is set to face a formidable challenge as they travel to LaGrange, Georgia, for the LaGrange Toyota Invitational—one of the most prestigious high school baseball tournaments in the southeast. This tournament, known for its 25-year legacy, has become a must-watch event, drawing elite high school baseball teams from around the region. It’s an opportunity to showcase the best talent, and Foundation Academy is ready to prove they belong among the best.

A Tournament with a Rich Legacy

The LaGrange Toyota Invitational has long been a spotlight for young talent, with an alumni roster that boasts names like Buster Posey, Jason Heyward, Austin Riley, and Zach Wheeler, all of whom have gone on to major league success. A Competitive Field

This year’s tournament promises to be another exciting chapter in the LaGrange Invitational’s storied history, featuring 8 of the best high school teams from Georgia and Alabama. The competition is fierce, with several teams entering the tournament after impressive seasons last year:

  • LaGrange High School (GA), with a solid 24-11 record and a second-round state playoff appearance in 4A.
  • Mill Creek High School (GA), who finished 22-11 last year and is known for their competitive nature.
  • Hewitt Trussville High School (AL), coming in with a strong 26-8 record and a reputation for being tough.
  • Central High School (AL), with a 40-5 finish and a runner-up spot in the state championship last year, ranked 23rd nationally.
  • Morgan County High School (GA), wrapping up last year with a 23-10 record.
  • Glenwood High School (AL), coming off a state championship with a 21-7 record.
  • Spanish Fort High School (AL), who went 29-12 and made a run to the state championship.

And of course, Foundation Academy (FL)—the team that has started the season 5-0 and is riding high after finishing 24-5 last year. The Lions are entering the tournament with a lot of momentum and are eager to show they can compete at the highest level.

Foundation Academy’s Path to Glory

Foundation Academy will compete in Pool B, alongside Morgan CountyGlenwood, and Spanish Fort. The pool matches are set to be intense, with each game offering the Lions an opportunity to prove their mettle:

  • Friday, February 28
    • 12:30 PM – Foundation Academy vs Spanish Fort
    • 8:00 PM – Foundation Academy vs Morgan County

The Lions will face off against Spanish Fort, who finished 29-12 last season and made a deep playoff run, followed by a clash with Morgan County, who had a solid 23-10 finish. Both teams present different challenges, but Foundation Academy has the talent and the drive to rise to the occasion.

On Saturday, March 1, Foundation Academy will face Glenwood in another key game at 12:30 PM. Glenwood comes into the tournament as the defending state champions and will be a tough test for the Lions, but the team’s strong start to the season shows they are up for the challenge.
