At Foundation Academy, we are proud of the incredible leadership and dedication demonstrated by our Associate Athletic Director, Krystal Thomas-Smith. Recently, Krystal was invited to participate in a prestigious “Women in Sports Career” forum held at Duke University, where she joined a panel of 14 female alumni who have made significant strides in the sports industry.

Krystal Thomas-Smith’s Role at the Forum

The event, which was designed for both male and female student-athletes at Duke, offered a unique opportunity to inspire and mentor the next generation of sports leaders. Krystal, a passionate advocate for women’s advancement in sports, shared her journey and insights with approximately 100 student-athletes, emphasizing the importance of perseverance, leadership, and the diverse career opportunities available in the sports world.

Diverse Panel of Women in Sports

The forum featured a remarkable lineup of Duke alumni who have gone on to succeed in various sports-related careers. From coaching and athletic training to sports management and broadcasting, these women are trailblazers in their respective fields. The panel discussion provided an in-depth look at the challenges and successes these women have faced, offering invaluable advice to the students in attendance.

Interactive “Speed Dating” Format: Building Connections with Student-Athletes

Following the panel, the forum transitioned to an interactive “speed dating” style format. In this segment, Krystal and the other panelists rotated through multiple tables, engaging with groups of student-athletes. This dynamic setup allowed Krystal to share more about her role at Foundation Academy, as well as her experiences in athletics administration. It also provided a platform for the students to ask questions and gain personalized insights into pursuing a career in sports.

A Commitment to Mentoring and Empowering the Next Generation

Krystal’s involvement in the “Women in Sports Career” forum is just one of the many ways she continues to inspire young athletes and pave the way for future leaders in sports. Her passion for mentorship and empowering the next generation aligns perfectly with Foundation Academy’s commitment to developing not only talented athletes but also strong, confident individuals who can excel both on and off the field.

We are fortunate to have Krystal as part of our Foundation Academy family. Her dedication to the success of our student-athletes and her active participation in events like the Duke forum reflect the core values we strive to instill in all our students: leadership, resilience, and a relentless pursuit of excellence.
