November 15th chapel on the Upper School centered around loving one another as commanded in Romans 12:9-10. “Let love be without hypocrisy. Detest evil; cling to what is good. Love one another deeply as brothers and sisters. Outdo one another in showing honor.”
Pastor Ryan spoke to our students, and had an interesting exercise for them to do. He pointed out how the end of verse 10 says “Outdo one another in showing honor.” Right then and there, Pastor Ryan challenged students to come and honor their peers, teachers, etc. Could they outdo one another?
Students lined up at the front of the stage for their turn to honor someone well. Students honored their friends, their siblings, and faculty. It was amazing to witness our students showing honor to each other in this way. Pastor Ryan actually had to cut the line off because time was running out! He encourage the students to keep it going. To continue to outdo one another in showing honor. It didn’t have to stop when they went back to class. Students left with big smiles, their heads high, and a challenge that they wanted to take on.
